Is Basic Industries A Good Career Path?

The most vital aspect of a building is its base structure. In the case of a person, it’s their formative years, and in the case of a country, it is their basic industry. The basic industry is exactly as it sounds; it is the industry that works to meet the most basic needs that a country has.

Basic industries enable all other industries and sectors to function without a hitch. So there may be ups and downs in other industries’ needs or relevance, but basic industries remain a steady and relevant field of industry, regardless of the part of the world one resides in.

It is an ever-growing industry that is fueled by global competition. Its relevance has been the same since the beginning of society, and there is almost zero possibility of its relevance changing in the foreseeable future.

The very survival of any country is reliant upon the basic industries sector. As such, it is the most secure sector that is the most suitable choice for anyone looking for a stable position in an ever-growing industry with ample room for self-development and an industry that welcomes innovation.

Innovation results in direct change and can result in immediate immense growth. As such, it is a very encouraging sector. Ambitious people with a strong creative mind and innovative spirit are the perfect fit for the industry.

The basic sector industry is a sector that likely started with the production of raw materials in the form of agriculture for feeding the population and mining for the extraction of iron ore and other raw materials that could be used for defensive and offensive operations. Today the basic sector industries include six major basic sector industries.

Agriculture

Agriculture is the first sector of industry to ever exist in any organized society. One can argue that weaponry was made first for hunting and gathering and even for farming, but the fact is that agriculture is what led to the formation of society, and thus it is the most important aspect; its importance never diminishes as the population grows, so does the need for better agricultural development.

The industry has expanded beyond just farmers and labourers. The industry now includes but isn’t limited to people who check for water salinity, soil compatibility, and seed sciences.

The industry has come a long way and will always be an ever-expanding field with much room for growth and development.

Oil and Gas industry

If agriculture is what feeds the people, the oil and gas industry is what feeds the economy of any country. Every industry depends on the oil and gas industry, even the agriculture industry needs to use oil and gas to fulfil its tasks. As such its relevance is likely never to subside. The oil and gas industry is divided into 3 major sectors.

Upstream industry

This industry focuses on discovering and mining oil and gas; they often endeavour to find these natural resources in different areas, which requires a diverse team of technicians and scientists. It is a competitive field with a growing number of companies and, therefore ever-growing opportunities.

Midstream

The midstream companies work to transport the oil and gas from one location to the next. This may seem like a limited industry, but even this involves a versatile group of members to each team. For instance, there is a need for safety officers and risk calculators and such. It is a more diverse industry than it appears to be.

Downstream

The downstream companies of this industry focus on the process after the oil and gas have been transported, it focuses on the refining process and the conversion of oil and gas into multiple products. For instance, the induction of smell into methane for household use. It is a regular part of the industry with complete job security.

Mining industry

Mining is the basis on which the basic modem industry is based. Most sectors need these minerals from within the earth’s surface. When the word mineral is said, the understanding is very shallow. Minerals include, among others, gold and silver. They are used in every advanced technology that the modern world offers. Minerals also include elements such as uranium, which can be turned into a new energy source based on exploitation. The mining industry again is more diverse than it used to be and has a position for numerous specialists in the modern years.

Paper and pulp industry

The paper and pulp industry is an industry that has survived the tests of time. As the world has modernized and everything is computerized, it was expected that the paper and pulp industry would die down, this is not only false, but the complete opposite has happened.

Not only did the paper and pulp industry survive, it is thriving. It had to adapt to do that. From books and pages to card board boxes, to tissues. As everything went online, so did shopping.

Online shopping alone has allowed paper products to replace plastic ones. For instance, when people went out to shop a decade or two ago, they came home with multiple plastic bags, today, most people order things online, and these orders show up in big boxes of paper and pulp.

The paper industry remains relevant to the economy and is the major alternative to plastic.

Steel industry

Steel is one of the basic elements in construction, from vehicles to houses to entire city infrastructures. Not only this, major pipelines, not just on a domestic level but even on the transnational level, are fuelled by the steel industry. The steel industry plays a pivotal role in the grand scheme of things and need competent people to join and help it grow.

Chemical industry

The chemical industry exists to aid other industries flourish. Agriculture industries need pesticides and fertilizers to perform their best, essentially all industries are aided by the chemical industry regardless of whether they are basic or not. The chemicals can be divided into three parts.

Basic chemicals

Specialty chemicals

These are chemicals made for specific tasks through an intense degree of research and development. A printer’s ink or a pesticide may be an example of such chemicals

Consumer chemicals

These include chemicals used by everyone on a day-to-day basis. These include detergents, shampoos, and even some skin care such as sunblock’s.

What do jobs in the basic industries pay?
